Topic: "In Cold Blood" Murder Case, Psychiatry and Mental Health and the Formation of The Pavilion
In October 1993, the Hugh A. Pennal, MD, Lecture in Psychiatry was established in honor of Dr. Pennal, a leading psychiatrist in the area. His dedication to mental health was instrumental in establishing The Pavilion, as well as the Texas Panhandle Centers Behavioral and Department of Psychiatry at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.
Since then, the lecture series has been attended by thousands of individuals. The programs are offered to the community at no charge. Prominent speakers from around the world have provided education at these lectures, which focus on all areas of mental health and help to expand the community's knowledge so that we all may collaboratively help one another and those in need.

About the Speaker
Dr. Jones was the psychiatrist who interviewed and diagnosed two men in the 1959 "In Cold Blood" murder case that Truman Capote turned into a book that was later made into a movie.
